This amazes me. Parents, our children are getting skin cancers & not just the type that needs to be cut off or dug out and will leave scars (as if this isn't painful emotionally, socially, physically, financially, etc. enough) but also the deadly skin cancers that frighteningly aren't detectable until it is too late or even brought to people's attention by education and the media until much later in a person's life like when young adults start caring for themselves and are exposed to more experiences involving larger numbers of people like college, work, becoming a parent themselves, caregiver to aging parents and grandparents, etc. to be aware of and and on the look out for. We now know what the Sun's effects have on our bodies like never before and that long term exposure without sunscreen protection not only causes skin cancer but also premature aging, and numerous other maladies. We as parents can protect our children by applying sunscreen on a regular basis remembering that the Sun's harmful rays can penetrate clothing as well and teaching them from very young age to incorporate this usage into their everyday self care and maintenance routines. We have to set the example by caring for ourselves as well so remember to apply your sunscreen as well!
